What is the most efficient way of creating models for a web site down load (step, iges, etc). The model will be of small assys with internal propriatary content to be removed from inside. Save as part? Create an individual part model? Use the Cavity feature twice?

Save as part with the Exterior Faces or Exterior Components option, and then save as whatever the target program can import ... probably Parasolid or STEP.

Cor ,

I'd forgotten all about that, does that usually works reliably?

It always has for me.

One caveat is that if a hole penetrates to the interior, the interior surfaces can be interpreted as being exterior.

Be careful and check your internal surfaces for faces that might show proprietary information. You can use section view to see the internals. You can delete surfaces individually to remove proprietary or unnessary surfaces and reduce the file size.
