I am referencing Daniel Horn's Technical manual that was mentioned in a previous post about monopole base plate design for moment and axial load. I was trying to create an excel sheet for the calculation of q, however, I am having trouble understanding the calculation for I of the bolts. According to the paper (page 57) I_bolt = ∑[(A_bolt^2)/4π+A_bolt 〖(e-y_j)〗^2 ]. If you see there chart on page 59 I_bolt does not appear to calculate out correctly if I am using the right numbers. In accordance with their example A_bolt is 3.25in^2, e = 930in, and y_j = 0 (for bolt 1 assuming it is the same as ybolt and changes with respect to the location of the bolt). I assumed that y_bolt and y_j were the same thing the value of y of the jth bolt around the base plate but my I_bolt value in my calculator and hand calculations does not come out the same as theirs.
If anyone has any input on this or other suggested methods for monopole/baseplate analysis please let me know.
