I am designing a concrete column supporting a simple beam where the beam is supporting one way slab, my question is, do I consider moment transferred from beam to column even though the beam is simply connected and only for gravity loads ?

ACI has a formula (10-14) that defines a minimum moment for the column to be designed for. I usually like to multiply the beam reaction times half the column depth for the moment to be conservative.

Thanks, I will do the same by multiplying the reaction with half the column depth ...
