I am working on a project that will require some moment connections. The architect is wanting to use pipes, but the horizontal framing is rectangular tubes. Anyone have experience creating fixed connections between pipe and tube?

You might achieve moment connection by using bracket, if permissible.

As long as the connection is only for a moment, you should be o.k. Just wear a mask and wash you hands when you are done.

Funny..

That is what I thought too. I had square tubes, which I could deal with.

I'll ask the architect if he is good with it lasting only a moment.

I you profile the tube to the pipe, and weld all around, that is a moment connection. Whether it is sufficient is subject to evaluation.
