I need to model a spongy material for which I am only interested in its performance (stiffness) in the Z direction. My scope does not need me to see the stresses/strains in the spongy material.
Following is what I have (if Z is my vertical):
1) Cross sectional area (X-Y plane) of this material.
2) "Ideally" if 'X' load is applied on this entire cross section area, the deflection 'd' this material will experoence in Z direction. In actual model, the force will not act on this entire area. There will be some contact non-linearities but I will get to that later.
Can somebody give me an idea how I Can model this spongy material?
Thanks in advance.
