Modeling Septic Tank in Hydrauli Model

I have a model of a Septic Tank Effluent Pump (STEP) system. What is the best way to model the septic tank in the flow process? As a storage node? Or is it sufficient to only include a pipe with invert elevations matching the tank inlet and outlet? I'm using SSA as the modeling software. Thanks for your help!
