Hi,

I'm working on a cart model that is moving on a horizontal surface. I want to model the wheels rotation on the horizontal surface and add motors to the joint connecting the wheels to the model of the cart. My problem is how to model the connection between the wheel and the surface. Can anyone help?

Thanks a lot :)

Is the road surface flat? what traction effects are you concerned with? Are you worried about cornering? The fundamental question is what is your model supposed to be modelling?

@Greg:
Thanks for your reply. I'm just modeling a simple cart model as I'm not concerned with the wheel-soil interaction and the surface is flat, just friction on the wheels. I'm supposed to test control algorithm on the motors.

So all a wheel is to you is a distance off the ground that has a constant relationship between rotational speed and forward velocity? Or are you worried about traction, slip velocities, and inertial properties and compliances?

Just the relation between the rotational speed and linear speed and the kinematic friction acting on the wheel.
