Any Modelica jockeys here?

My day job has recently been redirected towards Modelica and I wondered if engineers actually speak this language.

I downloaded a Windows install of OpenModelica ( which seems to perform exactly as advertised. I also have the Fritzon book ( which is a nice introduction. Then of course there is the language standard ( quite a readable document.

It's looking good so far. I have managed to get the OpenModelica compiled executables to co-simulate with our own programs - there is a relativley simple external (C)interface, once you've got your head around it.

Things are moving on.

But it does seem that:

a) This language is too new to be trusted. Vendors support subsets of it and add extentions.
b) To do anything really useful requires writing external C functions.

OMC is good. A recommended download.
