Model Dimensions in Drawing Views--Far Away

New 2007 install--when I place drawing views, dimensions are often stretched far off the sheet. I have to zoom way out and drag them back in.

I recall something like that happening in 2006, and I thought I changed a setting that took care of it. However, I either remember incorrectly, or I can't find the setting.

Help? Thanks,

Brian

Hmmmm. .. maybe contact your VAR? I wouldn't think that would be an option anyone would want to have. I take it you're using 2007 SP0? You may have found a bug, and your VAR may know about it and have a work-around/fix.

One of the common fixes from a VAR if you're experiencing something strange on your system not evident on other systems is to go into your registry and rename your SolidWorks keys to something else and restart SolidWorks, which will regenerate the keys "fresh". DON'T DO THIS UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING. I don't remember the details, so what I mentioned isn't complete--you have to pick the right keys (under HKEY CURRENT USER > SOFTWARE or something like that) or you'll hose your entire system.

Are the dimensions the correct size or are they super small?

Jackpot.

It's the system setting "Automatically place dimensions inserted from model." When on, it tries to arrange dimensions. When off, I believe that it uses sketch placement. It must be attempting to arrange based off of the sheet scale or something... whatever it's doing isn't pretty.

2006 did the same thing. For that matter, so did Mechanical Desktop back in the day.

Thanks for the response...
