hi,
I have a quite easy task/problem. I only want to calculate stresses in a construction that consists of welded sections. What is a simple and accurate way to model welds? Take for example to parts in the assembly mode and model the weld simply as a trinagle and fit it inbetween - and contrain each of the two parts with the modelled weld?
is this sufficiant?

thanks for responses,
Tony

It's not normal to model the welds in a structure unless you are wanting to model the stresses from the welding process. In that case I would use a 2D generalized plane strain model of the cross section of the structure and weld together if that is possible.
