Missing Bolts

I am "Self teaching" inventor and have alot of success at building small assemblies and what not. I am having a huge issue though with my fasteners. I have set up a project and built the assembly and used fasteners from inventors standard part catalog. When I re-open the assembly, the fasteners are gone. is there a setting that i have missed?
