Inventor creates a new part (part_MIR) when mirroring a symmetrically opposite part. Is there a way to mirror without the creation of this aditional part or assembly?

thanks
Matthew

No thats not how 3d programs work.
You must have a part file for every part.

If the part is exactly the same part but simply mirrored in position about a plane you can select to Reuse when Mirror Component which will not create a new part. If the case is Left Hand and Right Hand you have to have a new part.
