Mirror drawing

I have checked this thread for mirror drawing (thread559-131239)

It is 4 year old question so I thought I will ask it again & see if anybody has got better Idea with new features & releases since then.

Question is that it is very easy to mirror a part or assembly but you will have to re-do the dimensions & detailing of the mirrored part. Is there an easy way to do that?

Some people have views that we do not need 2 drawings for right & left hand part which I tend to agree with, but my management does not agree with that & wants 2 seperate drawings which can be a heck of boring work to do.

Any suggestions please. If no suggestions please tell us how you/yoour company handles this situation. That might help me with my argument of one drawing.

I believe there is now an option to mirror/copy a part with dimension too.

Need to confirm this.

Gurjjeet, we used to make drawings with our mirrored part on the same drawing as the non-mirrored part.

A problem we ran into with that, is sometimes a project consumes only the non-mirrored part. It is confusing to every one, from the purchaser down to the shop to issue a part drawing with two unique parts on it, and get them to build only the correct quantity of the mirror/non-mirror you require for this build. So, we no longer do it.

And yes, it is tedious to make a mirrored drawing, especially of assemblies. One technique I use is to draw the non-mrrored part or assembly first, and when it is done I have it open to look at. This allows me to setup the mirrored drawing itself as a book-match reflection, which helps by allowing the worker to put the two drawings side by side, and actually see the aspect of the mirroring. It is often possible to copy the first non-mirrored drawing and update the references to get off to a quicker start for the mirror.

If you break the link to the part when you mirror it then you get a tree... all it is the same tree with a Move/body command that mirrors the part.

It works, but its a little confusing when you need to change a hole location for example. You measure it in the left hand side, but when you edit the hole it goes back to the right hand side.
