Minimum length of shell plate

Guys,

British Standard states 1 M is minimum length of plate.

I do not see that requirement in API 650. Does API 650 specify minimum requirement of shell plate length ?

For this thread let's assume you mean the horizontal measurement of an individual shell plate.

API 650 has no minimum length of a shell plate that I am aware of. As long as you meet the minimum weld spacing and NDE requirements you can make your tank out of 10,000 small plates.
