Hi to everybody, I'm a new Compress user and this is the first time I participate at this Compress Forum.

I'm calculating an AES tube and shell heat exchanger, of floating head type. The initial distance between outer tubesheet faces is 6090 mm (239,8 in) but after introducing all description data, Compress warns me that the maximum allowed distance between outer tubesheet faces is 5807 mm (228,6 in) and asks for resizing heat exchanger before creating the model.

Anybody knows the reason? Could be that distance between back Flange Rear Tubesheet and Rear Shell Flange is limited?

I've tried to increase shell length, keeping the rest of dimensions, but this makes the running step abort and Compress is closed inmediately. Anybody can help me?

Thanks to everybody in advanced.

Best Regars.

Hello Calculo,

I recommend that you update to new COMPRESS build 6251. There is a problem that can cause some types of floating tubesheet exchangers to crash COMPRESS.

You can update your software by using the "Get Updates" command from the COMPRESS Help menu or by downloading the full installation program from our website Downloads page.

Also, if you experience a crash, be sure to click the option to send the crash report to Codeware. This will assist us to resolve the issue. Some crashes may be caused by program bugs, others are simply due to a computer error (and rebooting often helps).
