Minimum clear distance to New column 1

Hello guys what would be the minimum clear distance of new column to the existing wall to avoid any problem on fixing the new steel column. thank you in advance

That would largely depend on the foundation under the new column, and under the existing wall.

You will need to have adequate space to tighten nuts on anchor rods, depending on the anchor layout.

@jayrod yeah thats right but assuming a very small load.
@motorcity thats exactly what im thinking what will be the minimum distance so there will be no problem with the installation. what will be the minimum distance of the anchor bolt to the existing wall

Might also need access to paint the column (now and in the future) depending on the environment inside your room?

we are going to propose a mezzanine and this column is located inside the pantry below. and the proposed column(150x150) will be directly connected to 200mm slab so i think there will be no problem with the foundation.
@JAE is it allowed to put a new column directly at the top of the existing foundation? if not, meaning I need to offset the column based on the existing foundation?
@hookie Im thinking about the installation on what will be the minimum access for certain activity like fixing the bolt.
@agent666 yeah I think that one should be consider too. the room is actually a pantry below the proposed mezzanine

Yes you can technically bolt the new post directly to the slab, provided the slab and existing foundations are adequate to support the new loading scheme.

In terms of minimum access, I would argue that 6" is sufficient, provided they install the anchor into the concrete ahead of time. 6" is more than enough room to get a power drill in there to tighten the bolt. But the more room you give them, the less complaining you'll receive.

@jayrod thanks for sharing your knowledge. 6" from the center of the bolt, am i right so normally 7 to 8" from the center of the profile
