Hi Guys,

Does anyone have a 3D model of a BMW Mini Cooper or aMini Cooper S? I've found one on the web but it's a 3DS file and I don't have 3D Studio.

Thanks for your help

Thanks Skint,

I downloaded the obj file but it comes in a bit of a mess. Did you have any luck smoothing it out?

The Cooper and Cooper S models are about 120euros each but the models themselves look fantastic.

A friend who worked as recenty at IDEO was on the development team of the Mini Cooper. Not sure what tool or what country he was in doing that work. It was almost 10 years ago tho.

if your not in a total hurry,.. start modelling it yourself!!And if you get stuck, just post the part + problem "here" andI bet a lot of people will help you! Would be a cool project!

Tobias,

I would love to model one myself but there's no way I would get time.

Thanks for the link to that Skint, looks pretty cool. I may pay the $30 and see as it's cheaper than the other model I saw.

That 3d studio model would be all polygons by the way.

Thanks Bart, I've had no experience of importing files from 3D Studio into ProE or SW so contacted the company and they said that.

I think I will just have to try and model up a Mini myself.

Michael , have you done a lot of surface modelling before?

You can start with :

I bet if you ask, you could probably get some help modelling it . Someone might do the wheeels and tires, anotherone could to the rearwiev mirrors...and soon ;-)

Start a new thread and please show the progress!

Tobbo,

Thanks for the Blueprints, that will be a great help.

I haven't done as much surfacing as I would liked to have so I know this will be difficult but hopefully with some input and help from people here I can manage something. I've also followed a lot of the threads that Jacek, Bart and Skint have posted about surfacing so that should help as well. All I need now is some time to get started.

Thanks guys for all your help so far.
