Microstation tool boxes... 1

Hey all,

First off I am a bit of a newbie (for newbie see trainee, although newbie sounds more apt on the web ) in the wide world of engineering, and thus I have recently started using Bentley Microstation. I am slowly becoming better at using the program, as you do the more times you use it, but I cannot for the life of me find out how to make my tool boxes (like my snaps and button configs) stay saved when I close down Microstation. When I start it up the next day I have to change all the settings again :/

There is probably a dead simple answer to this question, and when it's so obvious I tend to overlook it.

If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

When you save, make sure you save settings (File>Save settings) before you quite a file. You can also set up user preferences (Workspace>Preferences>Operation Save settings on exit) to save your settings.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I tried to do what you said and it doesn't save any settings still :s

I thought it might be something to do with the office network restricting something or other, but it turns out the program is installed on my machine (somewhere in the c: drive).

Silly thing!

Don't suppose there are any last ditch efforts to sort it?

Find out where the license server is and how it's managed. It might not allow settings to be saved - there is a lot of evil that a MicroStation administrator can do without you knowing it.

Ahhh, I did it. Thank you!

I wasn't allowed to write into the programs directory. Logged on using the admin, set up Microstation, saved settings and logged off. Back on with my account and bingo! everything was saved.

Bit of a silly way of doing things but it seems the network guy is pretty keen on doing it that way.
