Thanks for taking my question. I posted earlier but got an error when I clicked on the link, I’m just going to try again. I bought a micro lathe that I just put a 12 to 24 volt dimmer on hoping to be able to use the micro lathe at a snails speed sometimes but the speed difference doesn’t seem to change much when I twist the knob. What direction should I be headed with this thanks in advance I appreciate all of you knowledge and experience!

It was deleted for being a hobby question.

Lathes typically use a gearbox or speed change pulleys to change the speed so that the torque at lower speeds is higher. Using a dimmer will allow the lathe motor to stall because you are controlling available current and current sets the torque, not the speed.
