Metric fastener standards?

I'm looking for a standard to specify metric fasteners.

We primarily use NASM24693 for UNC/UNF flat head screws, but I need to use a couple metric fasteners. Our supplier provided and IFI metric fasteners book. In it, section 513 appears to be the standard for Metric Machine Screws. Looking on the IFI website, there is no 513 specification available.

Can anybody either substantiate IFI 513 or provide an alternate means of specifying a metric cross recessed 90deg flat head machine screw? (M3x0.5x5 Type 1A Cross Recessed Flat Countersunk Head Machine Screw, Stainless steel)

I've seen reference to DIN 965 but can't find this standard available anywhere.

Thanks,
Joel

Try ASME B18.6.7M. That should give you the standard you want. Or check out ISO 7046 to get a more international standard.

JoelWilson-
The leading domestic (as in US) wholesaler of metric fasteners is BOSSARD. They work mostly to DIN and ISO standards. Their website (see israekk's post above) should provide the governing standard (DIN or ISO most likely) which you will have to purchase. These are expensive (I recall a two-page standard that was $85)! BTW, metric flat head screws have a 90deg head as opposed to MS24693 which has a 100deg head.
