I am working on a vehicle which uses a metal on metal chain drive system, and I need to know if anyone knows where I could find performance data for any similar type of vehicle. Specifically friction as it relates to chain size and materials, as well as load capabilities. Any ideas?

You ask for "performance data for any similar type of vehicle" without specifying what vehicle.

Anyway, reputedly chain drives have an efficiency of 99%. This is true if the speeds are low, and the alignment is good. We measured a high speed chain drive system for our solar car and got 90% (as I remember). The chain manufacturer could probably give you some better figures.

Do you really mean a chain drive, or a metal on metal traction drive such as used in a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission)?
