I have the partition at the edges of the model shown below to be able to apply boundary conditions to it (simulate jaws in a tensile test). These partition faces are not allowing me to mesh my sample. I used virtual topology, but that removes the BCs.

Please help, I am new to Abaqus!

I don't know what you've done, but delete your edge partitions and partition the cell with these datum planes. Then the meshing is possible with the sweep technique in z-direction.

Hello Mustaine,

Thank you for your response.

I have created the partition encircled in red to be able to apply boundary conditions which represent the grips of a hydraulic testing machine (the specimen is gripped at the grips at both ends and a tensile load is applied as the actuator moves).
