Have there been any sucessful membrane filtration applications in coal bed methane or oil and gas produced water treatment applications.

Is anyone aware of studies in this field? I have been hitting up the membrane manufacturers and getting very little response.

Thanks in advance.

As concerns the North Sea wastewater issues (all petroluem types wastewaters) membranes are not considered - as they foul too fast and can't handle the organics. Most processes are either absorbant (betonite) or oxidative - for reduction of THC, BTEX, MEG, heavy metals, Aromatics, aliphatics, etc.

There is some microbial technologies - but they have limited, land use, applications.
