Helow there

One of our ongoing project, we have 10 nos horizontal Media filters(MMF) arranged in Parallel configuration. There is no FCV at the inlet of MMF, flow will be distributed by the unique frontal piping arrangement. In fact there is manual BFV and a flow transmitter for each MMF
However there is no variable flow envisaged through this inlet, since the BW inlet is from a separate pipeline. Each filter has an individual Diff. pressure transmitter

Someone may kindly advise the following,

1. Does the pressure drop across each filter will be same for all filter? if the flow remain same. What if the flow is different?

2. If DP will be same for all filters, how the real DP due to TSS saturation could be identified?

3. Any other means to have unique flow distribution, other than FCV?

Thanks in Advance
Niss

1. Pressure drop varies with flow for each filter, but each filter will have the same pressure drop. Water follows the path of least resistance, so more flow goes through filters with less pressure drop. The pressure drops will be the same, but each filter will have a slightly different flow.

2. You need to backwash each filter during the backwash sequence. If you just backwashed one filter, more flow will pass through it.

3. If these are gravity filters, you can use weirs to divide the flow.
