Okay, it's Friday and my brain is fried. Is there a way to "non-invasively" measure the held volume in a piston- or bladder-type hydraulic accumulator? Do you know of a manufacturer?

Thanks,

Ben T.

Would calculated volume be ok. use (P1 X V1)=(P2 X V2). Thus (precharge pressure / system pressure) X total volume = gas volume. then toal volume - gas volume = fluid volume.

a 10 gallon accumulator, precharged to 1000 psig, in an 1600 psig system ((1000/1600)X10)-10=3.8 gallons
or something like that, you're right, its Friday

Parker/Hannifin use to offer a magnetic type external indicator to show piston position. I guess sonics could be used

Thanks byrdj. After a couple beers at home, it all started to make sense again.
