Is there a maximum allowable velocity in HDPE Pipe (Gravity flow)? I have manu. cuts which state they've tested abrasion resistance to 18 fps and beaten other materials. But is there a maximum design velocity? Often steep slope stormwater conveyance leads to high velocities. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,
Steven W. Todd

Asked and answered...according to an ADS engineer, their pipe is guaranteed up to 25 fps. Surprisingly (at least to me) the majority of damage above that velocity is expected at the intake end of the pipe.
