Hi guys,

Anyone please could be help me with:

Does exist any para. in ASME B31.4 about the maximum lenght to welding leg for branch joint? (1,5 times Th, or similar)
I have branch (24 inch) and header (36 inch) pipe, both in WT = 9,53 mm and Pd = 280 psi, I need 15 mm min. of welding leg and with it, pad or saddle reinforcement is not necessary.

Figure 404.3.4-3 says "W1 (min.) = the smaller of Tb, Th, or 3∕8 in. (10 mm)" in my case Tb = 9,53 mm, Th = 9,53 mm, 10 mm, that is W1 >= 9,53 mm.

Do you see any problem if I to define 16 mm lenght welding leg for wall thickness = 9,53 mm to these pipes?

Cheers
DM
