Max Flow rate

I used a Polysonics flow meter to calculate water flow through an exchanger. When I tried to back calculate for a water side flow based on process side heat load, I got a significantly lower flow rate. Now I am trying to determine the max flow rate through a 6" diameter line. How do you calculate the max flow rate of water in a 6" dia line?

the max flow rate in a pipe depends mainly on the pressure drop from the inlet to the outlet of the pipe,
if you have specific data it can be calculated.

You can't really say what the maximum flow rate of water in a 6" line is as it will vary depending on the available pressure drop (within reason).

Typically, water piping would be designed for 10 ft/sec or less. If you have the available pressure drop for the cooling water flow, it could be double that. That will give you a possible idea what the flow 'could' be as a starting point.
