Max current for different AWG sizes

Hello,

I was looking up max. current for different copper AWG sizes, and I found different amperages every time. Why is that? Is there any standard for this case? Would appreciate any advice.

Perhaps, stranded versus solid...AL versus CU...referenced at different temperatures? Also, the values listed are based on an acceptable current density. Depending on the application, some use more conservative densities than others.

ampacity also differs based on the insulation type, or lack there of for bare and overhead conductors, type of raceways the conductors are installed in, no.of conductors in an assembly (a multiconductor cable ) vs. a single conductor etc.

Not sure where you are, NEC has quiet a number of tables for ampacities for the same reason. Ultimately it is related to heat dissipation to keep the temperature of the conductor within acceptable limits

You will find tables with different temperatures. I have found tables at 20C, 25C and 30C (table 310.16).
