Matrix problem

im new to matlab and i hope you pros can solve my problem.
i have 2 different matrix. Matrix A is 4500X8 and matrix B is 4000X8.

is there anyway i can change the size of the matrix to 4230X1???

is the third matrix assembled from the other two ?

you may make a subset of matrix A (removing different sets of 270 rows) and see how the solution changes.
 
no...the third matrix is not assembled from the other two.

making a subset?? meaning breaking the matrix??
ermm...can u tell me why do i have to break it into sets of 270 rows??

examples:
Build matrix A and B
if you wanna take the first 4230 data from the first column of A:
C=A(1:4230,1);
if you wanna take the first 2000 data from the first column of A and the last 2230 dat from the first column of B:
C=[A(1:2000),B(1770:4000)];
