We're doing some experiments at 800C in hydrogen, but the SS foils we're using are rapidly failing, presumably due to hydrogen embritlement. What other metals/alloys can I try?

I imagine you are referring to 304 foils. Please try higher Ni containing materials. Anything above 310 grade of SS will be a good choice. I have no idea about their availability in foil form.
