Hi John..Your replay on above thread is helped a lot...Is there any otherway to get material density in spread sheet?

Another question is I have assigned material for seed (Template) part thru Tools -> Material properties. And for rest of the parts in same family I manually entered the material and density. Is there any way to make selection of material and its density in the spreadsheet by pull-down ab or other method to avoid manual entry?

Are you using NX 9.0? I ask because you state that you're assigning "material and density" to a Part Family. We did NOT add the ability to assign different 'materials' to different Part Family members until NX 9.0. In addition to Desnity and Material, you can now also 'assert' the Family Member's 'Mass' as well, all from the Part Family spreadsheet.

I use NX-6. I followed below steps for assigning materials for same family memebres with diffrent mateirlals.
Assume Washer A and B can be made from Steel and Aluminum.

Step 1: Cretae seed part and assign mateirial steel Tools -> assign materilas.

Step 2: Made Solid body "extrude" to Named and added to choosen columns.

Step 3: Now spread sheet generated with seed part material and density.

step 4: In next row Enter the value for Aluminum and create the part. Thus creates Alum. and steel parts.

Now in step 4 I would like to eliminate the entering values for Aluminum and its density instead of that it should be linked to the Material file and user can choose material easily.

Is that possilbe?

That's sort of what we've done in NX 9.0, allowing you to enter a material, by it's name, which will automatically link the model to the Material database. Change the name of the material and all new assignments are made.

Thats great!!! is that not possible in NX-6?

Correct, at least not in the sense that you can enter an actual material designation and get the correct link to the material library records.
