Hi everyone,

I am learning ETABS as Strand7 that I studied at university isn't widely used in Australia. I have somewhat familiarity with ETABS. But I have a confusion about the material properties. When you add a new property in the model, you'll have predefined materials according to the standards from various countries. However, I cannot find Australia in the list of 'Region'. Is there a quick way to define concrete and rebars according to Australian Standards without manually adding the values of all the properties?

Thanks in advance.

Regards

I don't use ETABS, but according to this page:
the latest release of the Concrete Frame Design package includes the latest AS 3600 (2018).

By the way, I don't agree that Strand7 isn't widely used in Australia, their head office is in Sydney, and it is used more here than anywhere else, but it's a very different product to ETABS. As a general purpose FEA program it will do a lot of analyses that can't be done in ETABS, but if you are looking for automated building design, ETABS would have a lot more features for that.

It would be good if Australia materials were included with Etabs install. The closest would be NZ materials. Otherwise in the install directory and property libraries, you might be able to copy the NZ library xml document and adjust for Australian properties and import.

interesting comment on Strand 7 - it is easily the most common fea package in australian consultancies. so much so that i am looking to buy an fea package for my business and we are looking at strand 7 primarily because most of the staff have used it previously and there is more experience in the market. as for the OP question - sorry, can assist with that

Thanks everyone for your replies. I agree with what you said about Strand7 @IDS. @rscassar; I am also thinking same for the material properties. Modifying NZ properties will be easier. I will look for converting it into Australian properties by converting XML document.
