Can someone out there tell me the DIN equivalent of Alloy 20 ( ASTM A744 CN7M )?

avinodkumar

For castings I do not know but plate or pipe (ASTM 463/468/474) in Alloy 20 is called : NiCr20CuMo Werkstoff nr. 2.4660

I did not find any A 744 either
the only 700's I find for SAND cast alloys are
A713 & A771 which we pour both,

I've found a cross reference from CN-7M to Din 1.4500. I can't confirm how good it is, as I've not yet found a copy of the DIN spec. If I do I'll post it here.

Found it. Din 1.4500 is not an exact match, but it's the nearest I could find. It is also known as GX7NiCrMoCuNb25-20.

Got a reference from Allegheny Ludlum for Alloy 20 as DIN (2.4660).

I am trying to find an ASTM to DIN equivalent chart. Specifically, I am trying to identify the ASTM equivalent to DIN 1.7139. Please email me if you can help!

Maxrupert,

ASTM A 29 Standard Specification for Steel Bars, Carbon and Alloy, Hot-Wrought and Cold-Finished, General Requirements for lists the following grades that are close:

5115
C = 0.13-0.18
Si = 0.15-0.35
Mn = 0.70-0.90
Cr = 0.70-0.90

5120
C = 0.17-0.22
Si = 0.15-0.35
Mn = 0.70-0.90
Cr = 0.70-0.90

The DIN/EN grade 1.7139 has more Mn & Cr than either of these grades, so its hardenability will be higher than 5115. 5120 has slightly more carbon so it will be closer in hardenability, even with reduced Cr & Mn. Depending on your application, one of these grades or another alloy steel may be suitable.

Regarding equivalent steels & conversion among national & international standards, the following references are the best:
