Hello Everyone,
I am in need of a resource (book or guide) from which I can learn how to estimate how much a material is expected to deform as a result not of excessive stress but internal stresses or some other process that I know nothing about.
This is probably novice but I cant really understand or estimate how these mechanisms work. For example machinists have told me that cast iron structures in machine tools will bend over time even if the machines are left unused. I would like to know how to estimate or prevent this. Does anyone know of a resource that is helpful on this matter?
Best,
George
