material damping

hi everyone,

I have values of damping for a single degree of freedom system interms of damping ratio for a particular mode of vibration. the damping is purely contributed by a rubber material due to its material property. How do i convert this ratio into equivalent material damping coefficient or some other useful form so that i could use these values for my analysis in ANSYS ?

I want to input these values as a material property rather than a constant damping ratio. This would be helpful for my future analysis.

If the system you have is a a single degree of freedom , then u may know the damping coffceint using the following formula , C=gamma*(sqrt(m*k)), that's all

Thank you for your reply.
This relationship which you have specified holds good for dampers using a viscous fluid. Can i use the same relationship as it is more of material dependent damping (o-ring) which is primarily amplitude dependent rather than velocity dependent ( as in the case of fluid dashpot system).
