i need to machine a 3/4 inch axle (rear) for a custom i'm building. i was wondering what grade of steel would be best.
4140, 1144 etc.

My favorite is 4140 Pre-Hard.

i bought 1144
should hold up ,wonder how it machines....
12 ft was 35 bucks
