Good day friends

I am running non-linear analysis. I have a quasi-static load applied to the edge of the model, non-linear material. and want to read the strain at a specific location at the model.
The running time is so long. and therefore I am looking for a solution. I have been advised to use mass scaling.
Do you think it suits my solution?
Do I have to use displacement control only with mass scaling?
Any suggestion, comments and reference, case study in this regard are so much appreciated

Thanks

mass scaling us used in quasi-static explicit analyses to increase the size of the stable time increment. It is described in detail, with examples, in the documentation:

Abaqus Analysis User's Guide -> Analysis Techniques -> Special Purpose Techniques -> Mass scaling
Abaqus Example Problems Guide -> Static Stress/Displacement Analyses -> Forming Analyses -> Rolling of thick plates
Getting Stated with Abaqus/CAE -> Quasi-Static Analysis with Abaqus/Explicit -> Mass Scaling

You should also find dozens of threads related tot this topic by searching this forum.

Thank you, Dave, again for your suggestion

The example of "forming a channel" in the Getting Started with Abaqus/CAE guide is a good place to start. It describes the theory, shows how mass-scaling can be specified, shows how how mass-scaling can be misused and the effect on results and it also shows how to check the energy output to make sure the analysis remains quasi-static.

It sounds great!
direct and interesting
