Masonry Wall Lateral Support

BOCA table 2107.1 and IBC table 2109.4.1 give masonry wall lateral support requirements. The codes read that this support can be supplied by cross walls, pilasters, etc. but give no sizing requirements for said support. Especially pilasters, does anyone have a published reference that elaborates on what is considered as adequate lateral support?
