Using AutoCAD Map 3 I am unable to import a shapefile. It gives the following error

Preprocessing...error encountered.
Error: Cannot open .DBF file for the specified .SHP file.

I can import an Arc/Info coverage or a MapInfo interchange file.

I was able to import a shapefile before.

windows 2000 sp4
