Often when designing, I need a simple 3D mannequin with basic joint movement, ankles, knees, hips, wrists, elbows, shoulders and head, that’s scalable. Can anyone suggest a simple inexpensive software program to do this.

under the user library go to miscellaneous > humans

a couple of cool SolidWorks human body assemblies for free on zxys.com . They have dumb or non-existent mates...you'll have to fix that yourself, but whaddya want for free?
