I have a Makino A66 machine that needs the spindle repaired. Makino wants to charge an ungodly amount for the "special bearings". I have checked with the major bearing manufacturer's, and am told that the bearings are proprietory to Makino. I need to have some lube ports added to the ID of standard bearings. Does anyone know where I can get bearings altered?

I have just finished doing the same thing on a Nomura. They said the same thing oem bearings. I pulled it apart and matched the bearings. Back in production 4 weeks 24 hours shifts, no problems. Maybe I could do yours too.

Try Champion Bearings ( I've bought some custom bearings from them in the past. They took some standard SS bearing rings and reground the grooves and loaded them with ceramic balls and installed new seals for a space application I had. I'll bet they can do what you need.
