Hi, so for my internship my company wants me to design and build a motorized Wrapping turntable for pallets around 1500 lbs. They want me to build one as cheap as possible. I found this non motorized turntable (attachments). I am planning on using a 1 hp 1600 rpm electric motor with a 40/1 gear reduction so it has 40 rpm output. The turntable needs to be rotating at 10 rpm so i need another 4/1 gear reduction. My question is: What would be the most cost efficient way to transfer the motor output to the turntable with a 4/1 gear reduction. I was thinking of a drive belt or putting a gear belt around the turntable and adding a gear directly to the motor output that stays in contact with the wrapping table belt. If any one has any input or ideas on what would work best i would love to know!
