Description
A discrete I/O module required for the user program is detected as having the wrong I/O count.
This code can also mean that a specialty card driver is incorrect.
Probable Cause
- If this is a discrete I/O module, the I/O count is different from that selected in the I/O configuration.
- If this is a specialty I/O module, the card driver is incorrect.
Recommended Action
- If this is a discrete I/O module, replace it with a module having the I/O count selected in the I/O configuration.
Then, clear the fault and run, or
- change the I/O configuration to match the existing module, then reload the program and run.
- If this is a specialty I/O module, refer to the user manual for that module.
Additional Advice:
A)
- make sure the Module is placed/seated correctly
- turn OFF the power to the Chassis, then push the module all the way in
- restore power to the Chassis
B)
- there may be a defective Slot on the Chassis Backplane
- as a test, try using the module in another Slot on the Chassis Backplane
- use the RSLogix 500 >> I/O Configuration to drag the module from its Slot to another spare Slot
- if you drag the module, then RSLogix500 should offer to change all the addressing automatically
- turn OFF the power to the Chassis, then swap the Module to its new configured Slot
- restore power to the Chassis
C)
- if using an Extended Local Chassis
- make sure the Interconnect Cable (1746-Cxx) is connected correctly between the two Chassis
- make sure the Extended Chassis is powered by its own Power Supply (1746-Px)
D)
- check the Ladder Project (.ACH .RSS) file
- go to RSLogix 500 >> I/O Configuration
- select the module in the Slot that has the problem
- press [Adv Config] button
- check to make sure it has the correct settings for Input (xx) and Output (yy)

Scanned Output Words : yy
E)
- there could be a problem with the Chassis Backplane
- replace the Chassis
