Madison Wisconsin Ground Snow Load in 1960

What would have been the design ground snow load in Madison, WI in 1960? For the purpose of agricultural timber truss design, was the method similar to today or was there a standard design roof snow load that was used? I believe the Wisconsin Administrative Code would have governed at this time.

No ground snow was specified. Roof snow load for commercial buildings was probably specified as 30 psf, but I believe agricultural buildings were probably exempt. Not sure where our old codes are (since we just moved) but I would guess that ag buildings were probably 20 psf.

Wisconsin has historically had a tradition or re-writing and ruining standards for years that had many holes or loop-holes in them for years.

You may want to check the old DLIHR codes this this agency controlled everything (labor, industry, human relations and regulations)for many years before it was finally streamlined/dissected and become more open and usable. This information of the standards for designing and building in 1960. They may not have flexed their muscles then, but there may be something in the administrative files. - Agricultural buildings (depending on the current use intended)frequently were exempt from any code.

Wisconsin, under DILHR rarely adopted any code without local or specialized requirements and re-wrote/redefined some ASTM standards and structural codes.
