I would like to begin working with machine vision and am looking for software recommendations. While working with robotics in the past I used Adept's machine vision/motion packages. Now I'm looking for a set of tools not related to robotics.

I would like to have multi-camera 3D capabilities, high-speed is not a requirement and my budget is $1k. I have been looking at NI's Vision Development Module for LabVIEW but it is priced just over $3k- too high for me to justify purchasing today.

Anything compatible with LabVIEW or Visual Studio 2005 would be great but any recommendations will be appreciated!

Thanks,

Dave

If you're interested in 3D vision system and safety related, I saw at a recent fair in Nuremburg by Pilz ( a system called SafetyEye. Very impressive but probably out of your budget. Interesting from an engineering perspective though.
