I've worked as a structural Engineer in a small design office in Massachusetts for five years. I’ve been here since I graduated college. All of my projects are in Massachusetts and I don't have any experience with New York building standards/codes. I don't even know what code they use? I think they may even have their own code like Massachusetts does.

Does anyone know what code is used in New York, and what difficulties I could anticipate (or prepare for) prior to applying for a job there.

All help is greatly appreciated
Thanks

I'm sure you've already anticipated the "Yankee Fan" difficulty...

new york uses modified version of 2000 IBC. it should not be difficult to get a job in ny. I do work in MA and NY. the code are similiar, Mass being based on the old BOCA code. thay have changed some things between the two ( mainly wind and seismic) but nothing that a structural engineer with 5 years experiance should not be able to pick up quickly
