Are there any consulting engineers or the such that work w/ architects using 3D AutoCAD?

My problem is when we reference in the 3D AutoCAD drawing, doors, windows, and walls become complicated elements, typical doorswings don't show up and the walls typically go the whole length, not breaking for doors and windows. So far, the architect has been able to explode the elements down in AutoCAD to simpler elements to be able to see door swings and breaks in the walls.

My question is there any thing that can be done in Microstation to do the same thing, so I do not have to have the architect explode it and resend the drawings?

Thank you

If you have V8 you can open an AutoCad Dwg file. Then do a save as to a dgn. No explosion of any type is needed. It translates over.

Namdac
