Dear All,

We are goin to do prefabrication and installation of pipe spools for a ethylen plant. the work volume is so big about 1.800.000 WDI in total, so that to reduce manpower cost we would like to use Automatic FCAW machines for LTCS pipes (A333 Gr.6/Gr.9) However, it is not mentioned on the welding procedure of the client (Linde Gas)using of FCAW for LTCS.

Do you have any idea, is it possible to convince client for FCAW or any restriction is exist?

Best Regards,

It should be possible to convince your client as long as you have a properly qualified WPS that you plan to use for both materials. There is no good reason to restrict the use of FCAW for the materials you listed. Both are readily weldable with FCAW.

Thank you for your answer,

could you advice Basic flux core wire for these pipe welding (automatic Fcaw)?

A333 Gr 9 - E81T1-Ni2

I've seen these requirements from Linde. They prefer solid wire GMAW processes. We had little luck in convincing them to use FCAW. But do try.

Dear Weldstan,

Did you convince them to use FCAW for A333 Gr 6 materials? If it is possible could you share a sample WPS?

Didn't get that far. We didn't land the job. We did ask for clarification during the bid stage.
