Nice slide show, thanks. What is with those piston cutouts? 4 valve cutouts for a 2 valve engine?
 
Look closely. The different-sized valve clearances aren't symmetrically placed. I'm betting that it's a single part number that can be fit to any cylinder in either bank.

Bingo Norm. Chevy V8's have a long history of 4 valve reliefs on the piston so there is only one part number and it can go in any hole. ISZ
